Extra-Curricular Activities
The department is committed to offering a variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs wherever and whenever practicable considering the restraints of staffing, cost and tie. It is the policy of the department that any pupils who wish may attend the activities that take place. (However, there are occasions when specific practices for team players might take place).
Aims
- To extend the curriculum beyond that offered in timetabled sessions
- Pupils can pursue work/targets over long periods of time not usually possible within the normal scheme of work
- Allow pupils the opportunity to pursue a particular interest or hobby
- Allows opportunities for specialist/visitors to interact with pupils
- Allows opportunities to organise visits to venues of specific interest
- Develops opportunities to develop projects or enter competitions and tournaments
- To allow practice for school teams/trials/performance
- Allows non specialist staff/parents/others with a particular interest or talent to offer their experience and/or time to broaden and enrich the curriculum offered to the pupils
- Allows pupils of different ages and abilities to interact
- Allows pupils and staff to interact in a somewhat less formal manner
