Spring Term - Local settlement & economic activities / Urban landuse - local fieldwork.
Summer Term - Wales - physical background & economic uses of land.
Assessment - End of first term and end of year formal written tests plus fieldwork reports.
Year 8
Autumn Term - Agriculture and industrial development / Europe: Wales within the EU / EU and agriculture / Weather and climate.
Spring Term - Europe: weather and climate / Environmental geography / Italy
Summer Term - Italy - physical geography of Europe / Rivers - fieldwork
Assessment - Mid year and end of year formal written tests plus exercises on agriculture/Italy/Rivers - Fieldwork Report.
Year 9
Autumn Term - Hazards - flooding, volcanoes, global warming
Spring Term - Population: World development and trade
Summer Term - World development and trade - Brazil
Assessment - Mid year and end of year formal written tests plus exercises on flooding and population.
In assessing a student, we are making them aware of where they are now, against the levels at Key Stage 3, what they should do to improve and with their cooperation what they can do to improve (target setting).
'student friendly information' of the levels in geography at Key Stage 3 is displayed in the classroom to encourage and assist students in their progress.
