Why teach geography?

Studying geography helps students to make sense of their surroundings and to gain a better appreciation and undberstanding of the variety of physical and human conditions on the earths surface. It has direct relevance for pupils of all ages because it relates to many aspects of their own lives and of the environment in which they live.

As a department our aim is to develop a leaing process where students find success, enjoyment, interest and enthusiasm in our subject. We try to instill a questioning approach in students encouraging them to evaluate data and information given as a foundation for life. In al work we do, we also aim to foster in students, a caring attitude towards theit work and a desire to always do their best. Credits are given as reward for good work, effort and behaviour.
